A New Year poem

The New Year Comes

The year draws to an end
What messages to others should we send?
What 2024 to us has brought
And what in 2025 is sought.

Another year ends as it must
Let’s hope the next we can trust
To bring more equity to all
That those with too much hear the call.

From those who have too little to eat
Or no roof over their heads to take a seat
So many who from hatred and violence hide
Let’s stand by them and take their side.

The billionaires continue to count their money
Oblivious to those who can afford no honey
It baffles many to see the heinous greed
When so many others are in dire need.

Most of us have a little that we can spare
For others who have nothing to share
So, while most cannot provide a laden table
Let’s aim to offer whatever we are able.
